About Simulation

Supply chain simulation analyses allow you to gain insight on working of complex models, evaluate potential capital investments, or Perform process simulation modelling to identify an efficient work flow that minimizes bottlenecks even before the actual implementation. Manufacturing process simulation also plays a vital role in deciding the perfect model for implementation, as it helps the user to visualize the end result of any number of what-if scenarios before actual implementation.

Introducing FlexSim

FlexSim is a powerful and user-friendly event simulation software package that provides tools to develop 3D simulation models. FlexSim Simulation Software has a robust object library with pre-built logic and task execution to simulate real-world scenarios, allowing novice users to build a simulation model by just dragging and dropping predefined 3D objects into model view. For developing more complex models, FlexSim allows customization through triggers, Flex Script, and even external libraries using C++ programming.

Bestir software Services has a capable team of Simulation modelers and Simulation Engineers who are experts in FlexSim. The team has proven expertise by building numerous models in Traffic simulation, Process flow simulation and complex supply chain projects  Client satisfaction is Bestir’s number one priority and we are proud of our long-term client relationships.

FlexSim Simulation Services?

Bottleneck Analysis

Many factors affect the throughput of an Manufaxcturing process operation, but bottlenecks are one of the main factors. Identifying the areas with bottlenecks and eradicating them provides noticeable improvements.  “A bottleneck can be defined as any area where the workload is backed up.”  Identifying the bottleneck is a difficult task on complex and discrete event environment With FlexSim simulation models, you could
  • Perform Bottleneck analysis on manufacturing plants and Warehouse operations.
  • Build the ‘As Is’ model and identify the cause for the bottleneck.
  • Apply multiple solutions and identify optimum solution to eliminate the bottleneck, so that overall throughput in the plant is increased.

We at Bestir, apart from building a simulation to replicate the existing process flow and detecting the key bottlenecks, can also provide insights on the  possible alternate solutions.  With the detailed report generated with the relevant metrics a well-informed decision to resolve the bottleneck could be made.

Evaluate Material Handling System

Simulation helps to
  • Analyze and validate the existing material handling system.
  • Evaluate automated material handling systems and identify the best one suited for the facility.
  • Analyze whether the proposed conveyor system/storage systems can satisfy the capacity requirements. If not, find the change (adjusting the length, type, or speed of a conveyor) needed to meet the required throughput.

Resource Optimization

Under-utilized resources notably the profitability of a company. Identifying the right amount of resources to complete a task is critical and difficult. Factors such as timeline, throughput, peak-time requirements, dependencies and many more are involved in resource planning, making it hard to keep track of each of the factors.  With FlexSim Simulation software, the throughput of different scenarios can be obtained without the actual implementation, saving both money and time.

Bestir Simulation Engineers can help you to identify the optimum number of resources such as machines, operators, storage racks and material handling equipment’s (AGV, Shuttle, ASRS, Forklift, Conveyor, Robot and Crane) or other resources to achieve the projected goal.

Also, we provide solutions to evaluate the resource allocation strategy by which an optimum method is chosen to allocate the resource efficiently within any given constraints.

New Plant Layout Validation

New plants or proposed changes to plants are capital intensive. Further a wrong design or decision can have a huge impact on the company’s balance sheets. Before starting the actual building of the plant, we validate the Client’s CADD design using FlexSim simulation. This involves validation of the

  • Proposed design facility layout
  • Material flow
  • Process simulation modeling
  • Operator movement
  • Areas of workplaces and warehouses
  • Type of material handling equipment
  • Types of storage systems
  • Resources needed for the throughput
  • Raw materials needed for uninterrupted process
  • Resource allocation
  • Optimum location for the objects such as machines, cranes, buffer location, rack storage area.

Manpower, machines, raw materials and material handling equipment’s etc., are also identified even before building the plant based on the expected throughput, time and forecast production volume/demand.

Traffic Congestion Measurement

Traffic congestion might lead to a bottleneck scenarios and impact the throughput of the system. Traffic simulation is done using FlexSim network path along with traffic rules and conditions. High traffic areas could be identified by the heat-map that comes with FlexSim Traffic simulation software models and solutions could be simulated by customizing the object’s speed and path.

Dashboard and Analytics

A visual representation of the data is easier to understand the result. FlexSim provides dashboards and charts to plot graphs with the chosen parameters. The types of graphs are selected from the library icon grid. These graphs could then be exported to CSV, HTML or PNG formats too.

Important key performance metrics such as Resource time-based utilization, Resource capacity-based utilization, Distance traveled, Traffic congestion, Work in progress inventory, Cycle time etc., help in identifying the areas that need improvement.

What-if Analysis

Decision makers need dependable predictive methods to assess the impact of a change. Experimenter and optimizer modules in FlexSim deal with answering “what-if” questions. FlexSim allows the users to create any number of scenarios, and the Experimenter displays the possible outputs for all the scenarios making it easier to compare the results. Alternatively, the Optimizer chooses the best of the scenario. They both are very powerful tools that enable the user to improve the system. Bestir engineering team share the collected output of all the scenarios with the Client enabling them to take a well-informed decision.
